With the economy being what it is at present, it might be time for companies to have another look at a little known and little used resource, namely OSHA partnerships.
An OSHA partnership is, quite simply, a great way to work in conjunction with OSHA to identify and eliminate potential injuries and fatalities on your job site. Adopted almost 11 years ago, the OSHA Strategic Partnership Program for Worker Safety and Health (OSPP) is “appropriate for the many employers who want to do the right thing but need help in strengthening worker safety and health at their worksites.”
While you may feel that a OSPP is something that only larger companies can take advantage of you might be surprised to find the most companies who take advantage of this program are actually small businesses with fewer than 50 employees. I would venture to guess that the main reason for this is that smaller companies don’t have a full-time safety officer on staff and are the ones who will benefit the most.
